How to help
Brazil looks after and cares about its children and youth and shall not be seen by foreign visitors as a children and youth sexual exploitation destination.
Tourism motivated by sexual exploitation of children and youth does not demand only police supervision and repression. The civil society, NGO`s, tourism industry companies, as well as travelers must act and react to create a protection network. This is an everybody’s mission.
Join in:
- Choose partners and suppliers signatories of the ECPAT’s Code of Conduct;
- If your travel agent or tour operator does not have a prevention policy, encourage them to create one;
- Try to be part of local network of children`s care in your region;
- Spread out the different ways to prevent this type of crime with your family and friends;
- Support Government actions and contribute with organizations that work with this matter;
- Whether you are working, travelling or on the street, do not hesitate on reporting the crime;
“The exploitation of human beings in any form, particularly sexual, especially when applied to children conflicts with the fundamental aims of tourism and is the negation of tourism.†(UNWTO).
